I have implemented an IDX MLS search program that I believe it is the most user friendly and has the most features available. The thing I keep thinking about is whether to make visitors register to view the free MLS search. Should I give the visitor a free search before I require them to register? What do you do for your MLS Search on Your Website? Should I give them 5 free searches? 10? 15?

Before I was an agent I remember using MLS searches online and I was VERY FRUSTRATED with having to register to use a decent MLS search. Not only did I have to register but I was bombarded with emails and phone calls from the agent who was “tracking” me. After going through this process several times I vowed not to make visitors register for an MLS search if I ever became an agent.

The strategy of not making visitors register has actually landed me two clients whom specifically told me they chose to use my services because they were not hassled and could use my MLS search without any catches.

I have gone back and forth on this subject and even implemented a 5 search allowance until registering was necessary, only to take it down days after. I believe for now I will leave the MLS search registration free!

How do you run your MLS search? Do you use an IDX program? What are your thoughts on this?
